site.btaPM Glavchev to Attend Signing of Contract for New Nuclear Power Capacities at Kozloduy NPP
Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev will attend the signing ceremony of the engineering contract for new nuclear power capacities at Kozloduy NPP Site 2, the press service of the Council of Ministers said here on Sunday. The event will take place on Monday, 4 November, at 11:00 in the Granite Hall of the Council of Ministers.
The engineering contract between Kozloduy NPP - New Builds Plc and a consortium between Korea's Hyundai Engineering and Construction and the U.S. Westinghouse Electric Company will be signed by the Executive Director of Kozloduy NPP-New Builds, Petyo Ivanov, Elias Gedion from Westinghouse Electric Company and Young-Joon Yoon on behalf of Hyundai Engineering and Construction.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by caretaker Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov, Environment and Water Minister Petar Dimitrov, US Ambassador to Bulgaria Kenneth Merten, Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Bulgaria Cho Ji Yi and other officials.
The signing of the contract is a key stage in the implementation of the project for the construction of a new nuclear power plant in Bulgaria. The joint work of the two global companies, Westinghouse and Hyundai, to provide an integrated service in Bulgaria will ensure that the project is completed within the pre-set time and budget, the press release said.
The Council of Ministers recalled that by a decision of the National Assembly, the South Korean company Hyundai Engineering and Construction was selected to conduct negotiations for a potential builder for the engineering, construction, delivery and commissioning of the seventh and eighth units of Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant with AP 1000 technology of the US company Westinghouse.
Energy Minister Malinov announced that the engineering contract for the new nuclear capacity at Kozloduy NPP with Hyundai and Westinghouse is expected to be signed on Monday.
