Interior Minister Daniel Mitov, Regional Development and Public Works Minister Ivan Ivanov, Health Minister Silvi Kirilov, deputy ministers as well as representatives of relevant agencies participated on Monday in a meeting on road safety issues initiated by Deputy Prime Minister and Transport and Communications Minister Grozdan Karadzhov, Karadzhov's ministry said in a press release.

"It is necessary to clean up, including legislatively, all cumbersome procedures and mechanisms that prevent institutions from acting quickly and flexibly," Karadzhov said.

During the talks, various approaches were discussed to improve the efficiency of all control bodies on the road, including more joint actions and regular training of officers.

It was pointed out that control should be tightened on overloading by heavy trucks, dangerous driving and systematic offenders. Serious attention needs to be given to road safety training for children and school children, training and testing of driver candidates, and the establishment of uniform rules for driving instructor training.
