site.btaCC Claims Caretaker PM Glavchev "Rewards" Municipalities Where People Voted for Delyan Peevski's MRF-New Beginning
On November 6 and 13, 2024, at the proposal of caretaker Finance Minister Lyudmila Petkova, the Glavchev cabinet adopted 2 decisions, which quietly, without clear rules and selection procedure, granted over BGN 85 million to "select" municipalities, CC said in a press release on Monday.
The "select" municipalities are the ones where people voted en masse for Delyan Peevski's MRF - New Beginning and with GERB mayors.
The press release gives a number of examples, among them:
Garmen Municipality, which received BGN 4,093,275 (3,106 votes for MRF - New Beginning, which is some 40% of the total of 7,647 votes in the whole municipality).
The Municipality of Belitsa, which received BGN 1,560,000 - (3,473 votes for MRF - New Beginning, or 67% of the 5,167 votes in the whole municipality).
Satovcha Municipality, which received BGN 5,357,371 - (4,738 votes for MRF - New Beginning which is 64% of the 7,379 votes in the whole municipality).
Municipality of Yakoruda, which received BGN 2,400,000 - (4,323 votes for MRF - New Beginning or 73% of the 5,873 votes in the whole municipality).
The caretaker Government has allocated BGN 20,000,000 for the construction of the Geographic Information System of Plovdiv (South Bulgaria) alone, the press release said.
It is noteworthy that municipalities where there is evidence of controlled voting and electoral fraud in the October 27 snap parliamentary elections are being "rewarded". In practice, this is buying votes with taxpayers' money, Continue the Change said.
Unlike the funds under the national municipal programme, the funds allocated by the Council of Ministers' ordinances do not require any prior documents, such as building permits and public procurement procedures, and are transferred fully in advance to the municipality, instead of after implementation, the press release said.
