Bulgarian Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel was received in audience by King Abdullah II of Jordan on Sunday. The meeting discussed the Aqaba Process, innovations, education, tourism, as well as ways to improve Bulgarian-Jordanian bilateral trade, economic and defence cooperation. Gabriel is on an official visit to Amman at the invitation of her Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi.

During the talks, the Aqaba Process was discussed not only as a means to counter terrorism and extremism, but also to fight hate speech. The Aqaba Process initiative, named after the Jordanian coastal city, was launched in 2015 by King Abdullah II of Jordan. It comprises a series of international meetings aimed at strengthening military and security cooperation, coordination and the exchange of expertise among regional and international partners to counter terrorism.
