The interdepartmental commission on recovery and support fund has about BGN 67 million thanks to the additional BGN 50 million allocated in the 2023 budget, Minister of Interior Kalin Stoyanov told reporters here on Thursday. He took part in the celebration of the professional holiday of Bulgarian firefighters.
The Minister said that the documentation from Tsarevo municipality regarding the flooding in the area is expected. He added: "We will try to meet almost all the needs they [the flood victims] have at the moment". Repairing bridges, roads and the compromised wall of one of the dams in the area will be a priority. Other municipalities in the country that suffered disasters during the year, such as Berkovitsa, Montana and Vratsa, will also be aided with the money in the fund.
Stoyanov commented the migration situation, saying that it remains grave, however, after reorganization, the number of thwarted attempts to enter the country illegally has risen significantly. He specified that pressure on the border is huge, as there are days with illegal crossing attempts reaching some 1,500.
