Flights and trains have been cancelled due to Typhoon Ampil in Japan, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry reported on Friday. The Ministry calls on Bulgarian citizens residing in or planning a trip to that country to refrain from traveling in the next two days, follow the local authorities' instructions, and check regularly the webpage of the Japan Meteorological Agency.
Japanese airline ANA has cancelled around 280 domestic flights scheduled for August 16, and Japan Airlines has cancelled 191 domestic and 26 international flights. Key railway lines are expected to be closed on Friday, including the section between Tokyo and Nagoya.
Japan has recommended the evacuation of nearly 10,000 households in some areas around Tokyo due to the strong typhoon, which has caused power outages, Reuters reported.
The Japan Meteorological Agency classified Ampil as "very strong" on Thursday.
