Holding a traditional meeting with last-year students of the Aprilov National High School in Gabrovo, Central Bulgaria, on Wednesday, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev spoke to them about what the national news agency does and how, if they choose to pursue university studies abroad, they should return to Bulgaria afterwards and put to use here what they have learnt.
"Bulgaria has four seasons, clean air, low crime rates, water and beautiful nature: lots of things that millions of people across the world dream about, and this list can be extended endlessly. We are in Europe and people here should thank God for having been born in Bulgaria. If you choose to leave Bulgaria, you will be aliens forever. I want to make you consider a future in Bulgaria and in Gabrovo," said Valchev.
He also told them about the job opportunities at BTA.
This meeting was held for a third year running. The aim is to recruit interns who will work at BTA with the prospect of getting a job at the news agency. One of the interns can get a job as chief of the BTA bureau in Gabrovo.
After meeting with the 12-graders, the BTA Director General paid floral tribute to a monument of Vassil Aprilov, one of the founding fathers of this school, which celebrated 190 years of its establishment on January 14.
The Aprilov School was established in 1835 to become the first secular school in Bulgaria.
Valchev was in Gabrovo to attend a local conference held by BTA as part of its EU-funded project "Europe on Balkans: Cohesion Skill. The Aprilov School principal, Elvira Hristova, was among the participants at the conference.
