Bulgarian athlete Bozhidar Saraboyukov won a silver medal in the men's long jump competition at the 2023 European Athletics U20 Championships in Jerusalem.
Saraboyukov, who turned 19 two days ago, won the silver medal, registering a best jump of 8.22 m. Thus, the Bulgarian athlete set a new U20 national record in the discipline, beating Petar Dachev's jump of 8.14 m, which was made in Annecy (France) on July 30, 1998. Saraboyukov broke the record in his first attempt, as well, measuring 8.18 m. Saraboyukov's best jump in Jerusalem came in his second attempt. He made a total of five attempts. His other jumps measured 8.12 m, 8.10 m, and 8.07 m.
The men's long jump competition was won by Italian Mattia Furlani. Furlani set a new European Athletics U20 Championships record, registering 8.23 m. Nikita Masliuk from Ukraine won bronze with 7.97 m.
