Discuss Energy Cooperation
Sofia, May 29 (BTA) - Bulgarian Energy Minister Temenoujka Petkova and Russian Ambassador in Sofia Anatoly Makarov discussed bilateral energy cooperation here on Monday.
The Intergovernmental Bulgarian-Russian Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation is due to hold its 16th Session this coming autumn, which will be chaired by Petkova. Working groups will discuss all topics of mutual interest. According to the Energy Minister, the meeting will open new opportunities for the promotion of bilateral relations.
Petkova and Makarov discussed the future of the Belene N-plant project. The Energy Minister said that by the end of September the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences will complete a technical, economic and legal assessment of the need for new nuclear capacities in Bulgaria. Petkova thanked the Ambassador for the invitation to attend the 9th Atomexpo International Forum 2017 in Moscow, where further relations between Bulgaria and Russia in the field of nuclear power can be discussed. Cooperation in natural gas supplies and transit was also on the agenda of Monday's meeting. LI/PP
