This government will begin its political life with not one, but two betrayals, betrayals of two formations that are part of this parliamentary majority—The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and There Is Such a People (TISP), Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov said here on Thursday during the discussion on the Zhelyazkov cabinet.

Kostadinov said that this government is not only off to a poor start, but it will not end well either. He added that people who were deceived by There Is Such a People (TISP) and Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) will quickly find an alternative in Vazrazhdane.

Kostadinov recalled that TISP and BSP participated in protests precisely because they did not trust the election process organized by GERB, and now they are together with GERB, alleging they will guarantee fair and free elections.

Regarding the new majority's priority to pursue eurozone membership, Kostadinov noted that TISP and BSP have shown a preference to postpone joining for as long as possible. Kostadinov remarked that the government begins with both betrayal and deceit. "A considerable accumulation of biblical sins from the outset", he added.

Kostadinov noted that the third point of the governance agreement addresses maintaining a sustainable tax burden and using tax incentives to encourage investments.

"This government starts off really well—just a few days ago, they did not allow the consideration of Vazrazhdane's proposal to restore zero VAT on bread. The government has not yet started its work—it has already burdened us with 20% on bread and will obviously continue to burden us more and more," he said.
