Deputy Prime Minister Yanev Put in Charge of Election Planning

Sofia, January 30 (BTA) - The Council of Ministers on Monday put Deputy Prime Minister for Internal Order and Security Stefan Yanev in charge of the overall coordination of the planning for the March 26 early parliamentary elections.

The caretaker cabinet approved a 29.9 million leva spending plan for the elections. The money will be secured after central government budget expenses and transfers are restructured.

Yanev, who is also Minister of Defence in the caretaker government, will be responsible for organizing expatriate voting in foreign countries as well. He and the Central Election Commission (CEC) will coordinate the procedure for producing, delivering and storing election papers and materials and the safekeeping of voting machines.

Finance Minister Kiril Ananiev has been tasked with proposing a price schedule for election campaign programmes on Bulgarian National Television and Bulgarian National Radio. Interior Minister Plamen Ouzounov will organize election-related activities withing his field of competence. Regional Development and Public Works Minister Spas Popnikolov will coordinate the printing and publishing of voter lists.
