Bulgarian Leaders Congratulate Emmanuel Macron on Winning French Presidential Elections

Sofia, May 8 (BTA) - "Congratulations to Emmanuel Macron on his resounding victory in the presidential elections! Without France there can be no Europe," Bulgarian President Rumen Radev wrote on his Facebook page.

Radev noted: "The vote of the French people confirmed their respect for our shared values: liberty, solidarity, unity in diversity, and shared responsibilities for the common future of the EU. I believe that Emmanuel Macron, who has come to epitomize these expectations of the French people and of all convinced Europeans, will channel this political energy into reinforcing the unity of the EU which has been put to the test."

The Bulgarian head of state expressed his conviction that France has elected a president who will work for his country with no less passion than the country showed in choosing him as its leader.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov wrote in a separate message that Macron's landslide victory confirmed the desire of the French people to preserve the European values and the principles of liberty and democracy, the Council of Ministers in Sofia reported.

Borissov wrote: "I am certain that Bulgaria's relations with France will continue to develop dynamically for the sake of the prosperity and the well-being of our nations in a united and strong Europe."
