Sofia, August 10 (BTA) - The production of electricity from renewable energy sources (RES) in Bulgaria increased by 6 per cent between January 1 and August 6, 2017.

Year on year, the increase was by 10.18 per cent. The share of electricity from RES in the total amount of electricity distributed in the country rose by 3.37 percentage points.

By August 6, 2017, the output of primary RES power plants was 8.23 per cent more than in the like period of 2016.

The output of hydroelectric power plants decreased by 28.82 per cent, year on year.

By August 6, 2017, gross electricity production in Bulgaria went up by 3.58 per cent. Electricity consumption increased by 6.22 per cent, year on year, while electricity exports dropped by 13.42 per cent.
