Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh met with Managing Director of the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GBCIC) Sonja Miekley, the Tourism Ministry press service said here on Wednesday.
GBCIC Board of Directors member responsible for tourism Siika Katsarova and former deputy prime minister and former ambassador to Germany Meglena Plugchieva also joined the discussion.
“Germany is a strategic partner in our efforts to develop sustainable, year-round tourism,” Borshosh said. “Bulgaria offers an exceptional variety—from wellness and spa centres to a rich cultural and historical heritage, alongside remarkable natural landmarks. Vitosha is one example of how proximity to the capital can be a major asset for sports, eco, and health tourism.”
The meeting focused on Bulgaria’s potential in the German market not only as a seaside destination but also for cultural, historical, health, eco, and sports tourism. Both sides explored avenues for collaboration between the Tourism Ministry and German industry to boost Bulgaria’s image.
GBCIC expressed readiness to support Bulgaria’s promotion among German businesses through specific joint initiatives. Iconic Black Sea and spa resorts remain of special interest to German tourists.
