Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Floor Leader Delyan Peevski held a meeting with Bulgaria's Grand Mufti Mustafa Hadzhi and the Grand Mufti's Office Secretary General, Dzhelal Faik, the MRF said in a press release on Friday. The meeting discussed the role of religions in Bulgaria and Islam in particular. All the participants were adamant that there is a need of Muslims’ unification to promote traditional family values and educate children in the spirit of these values.

Peevski expressed his deep respect and appreciation for the work of the Grand Mufti's Office in preserving tolerance and peaceful coexistence between people of different religions, the equality of all Bulgarian citizens, as well as the significant role of Bulgarian Muslims in preserving tolerance and the unity of Bulgarian society.

The issue of the urgent renovation of Grand Mufti’s building in Sofia was also discussed, as the funds for the renovation are provided from the 2024 central budget capital expenditure.

The meeting was attended by MRF ranking member and Parliament Deputy Chair Yordan Tsonev, MRF Deputy Floor Leader Bayram Bayram, MPs Halil Letifov, Stanislav Anastasov, Hamid Hamid, Erten Anisova, Elvan Gyurkas, Iskra Mihaylova.
