Twenty fire trucks and equipped crews have arrived from Turkiye following a request sent by caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev for assistance in fighting wildfires in Bulgaria, the caretaker Cabinet said on Facebook late on Wednesday. Two Turkish helicopters are expected to arrive on Thursday morning.
Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov will meet the crews in the Strandzha Mountain in Southeastern Bulgaria, after which they will be sent to the interior of the country where additional reinforcement of the firefighting effort is needed.
Serious preventive measures have been taken about the Strandzha gas compressor station in the village of Gorska Polyana. At the moment, clearings have been made there and fire crews and gendarmerie are on duty around the clock.
