Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) co-leader Hristo Ivanov accused here on Tuesday President Rumen Radev of irresponsibly interfering in the election campaign "with suggestions that scare people and try to funnel votes to Vazrazhdane and further confuse people."
Ivanov's words were prompted by a statement Radev made on Monday, in which he argued that NATO is already involved in the war in Ukraine "at all levels," that there is a real risk of a nuclear Armageddon and that Bulgarian Euro-Atlanticists are "self-proclaimed" and "cowardly."
Ivanov recalled that for two years now the President has not fulfilled his constitutional duty to convene the Consultative Council on National Security. CC-DB's co-leader believes that Radev shows no interest in the development of defense and national security policies, but is only concerned with such pre-election populism.
"This is unworthy of a Bulgarian officer and irresponsible for a Bulgarian president! And I call on him to stop!" said Ivanov, quoted by his coalition's press centre.
