site.btaCivic Bloc Coalition Leader: Corporate Vote Buying Increases as More People Get Discouraged
At an election campaign event in BTA’s National Press Club in Blagoevgrad on Sunday, the leader of the Civic Bloc coalition, Ivan Geshev, said that the more people get discouraged, the more corporate vote buying increases. Geshev argued that what is currently taking place is not an election campaign but a bribery of voters. In his words, those in power speak nothing about honour and morality, and they do not need to encourage voters to support them.
"It is a vicious circle that cannot be broken," Geshev said, adding that the only solution is for people who are concerned about what is happening in the country to realize that they are the real alternative. "Only members of the public are involved in this formation," he said about his coalition. Geshev added that the Civic Bloc’s candidate lists include a couple of party members, while all the others are from the civil quota.
Valeri Smilenov, who is second on the coalition’s candidate list for Blagoevgrad, discussed problems in education. Radoslav Kostadinov, No. 4 on the list, commented on the problem of Roma integration.
