Units from the 86th Special Forces Group of Bulgaria's Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and Turkiye's Special Forces Command successfully conducted a joint training session at the Tsrancha Training Complex, Pazardzhik Region, South Central Bulgaria, the Defence Ministry said on Friday.
Over the course of two weeks, the Bulgarian and Turkish special forces units conducted joint firing, tactical, medical and engineering practice. All tasks were completed successfully. The participants showed a high level of operating capabilities, excellent motivation and fine teamwork.
The joint training session was aimed to align the two countries' procedures for planning and organizing special operations and to strengthen interaction and cooperation on various levels between the Bulgarian and Turkish special forces.
The closing event was a tactical exercise conducted in the presence of Turkish Ambassador to Bulgaria Mehmet Sait Uyanik. Addressing JSOC Commander Maj. Gen. Yavor Mateev, the diplomat expressed his satisfaction with the training session and the joint actions demonstrated by the Bulgarian and Turkish units, and wished the participants good luck in their future work. Mateev noted that, in addition to being good soldiers, the Bulgarian and Turkish servicepersons ought to be good neighbours and friends.
