site.btaBulgarians Living in USA Finance Construction of Playground in Lovets Village

Residents of Targovishte, who have emigrated to the USA, are financing the construction of a playground in the village of Lovets in Varbitsa Municipality (East Bulgaria), said the village Mayor Beye Avdzha on Wednesday. 

She said that an outdoor gym equipment, a football goal, a basketball basket and a swing will be installed in the community hall courtyard in the village centre. The facilities are expected to arrive in Lovets by September 10. The playground will be suitable for children from 6 to 12 years of age, and benches and waste bins will also be installed. 

The construction of the playground is worth a total of BGN 8,000, with the funds provided by Bulgarians living in the USA. The Changing A Generation Association is assisting the project, with the official opening of the site scheduled for September 14.

Avdzha noted that the population of the village is currently around 300 people, including many young families, with more than 100 children and young people living in the village. However, the school in the village stopped working in 1997, while the closing of the kindergarten followed in 2005. The village management and the town hall are lacking the sufficient financial resources to implement many of their ideas, so they are grateful for every gesture that supports their work, said Avdzha.
