Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) leader Korneliya Ninova, Thursday visited Sofia's Ovcha Koupel borough, where she tops the list of MP candidates of the BSP for Bulgaria coalition, her party's press centre reported. She told supporters that education is the solution to many demographic, economic, and social issues in Bulgaria. However, not a single problem will be solved unless the money follows the student principle is scrapped, she argued.
In her words, this model of the so-called delegated budgets automatically rears illiterate children. They are put on a list so that the corresponding educational institution gets money for them. This is not either the teachers or the principals' fault: the model is flawed.
Another measure is obligatory: a single textbook per school subject, Ninova argued. She added that the content must be simplified, reflect the truth about Bulgarian history, and include Bulgarian classics and traditions. Students should be taught in patriotism, the BSP leader argued.
