IMRO Leader Karakachanov: IMRO, Patriotic Front Should Have Own Presidential Candidate

Blagoevgrad, Southern Bulgaria, May 16 (BTA) - The Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (IMRO) and the Patriotic Front should have their own candidate in the presidential elections, IMRO leader and deputy Parliament speaker Krassimir Karakachanov told journalists in Blagoevgrad on Monday.

"It is high time that Bulgaria had a head of state who takes to heart Bulgaria's national interests instead of currying favour with international officials and saying things which go against Bulgaria's real interests and politics," said Karakachanov.

Karakachanov said that IMRO has selected a presidential nominee. "The important thing for the Patriotic Front is to be united in its opinion and from there on to seek to expand on the patriotic support, because developments in Europe spell the end of the liberal globalistic era," said Karakachanov.

Approached by journalists whether he will support Prime Minister Boyko Borissov's nomination for president Karakachanov said that Borissov had the qualities to be president but it will be a different matter if Borissov decided to run for president.
