Political Talks on Amended Election Code Continue on Tuesday, Incumbents Certain of  Majority

Sofia, May 17 (BTA) - The talks between the parties in the ruling majority: GERB, the Reformist Bloc and the Patriotic Front, about the amendments to the Election Code and the provisions in it vetoed by the President, continue on Wednesday as well, GERB floor leader Tsvetan Tsvetanov told reporters, emerging from a meeting with representatives of the three formations.

President Rosen Plevneliev vetoed provisions in the Election Code which restrict the voting rights of Bulgarians abroad. The vetoed amendments are to be put to the vote in Parliament on Wednesday. It was not clear from Tsvetanov's statement how the majority will vote and whether the veto will be upheld or overridden.

Tsvetanov said the incumbents are certain "about the formation of a majority in Parliament".

Tsvetanov said also that the participants in the Tuesday talks "have reached unified positions" but noted that the talks continue, both on Tuesday and Wednesday.
