Patriotic Front Has Unanimously Decided to Withdraw Support for Cabinet Unless President's Veto Is Rejected

Sofia, May 18 (BTA) - The Patriotic Front parliamentary group has unanimously decided to withdraw its support for the Government unless the head of State's veto on amendments to the Election Code is rejected.

The protocol from the group's meeting on Tuesday, which was presented to the media in Parliament on Wednesday, shows that this decision was adopted unanimously with 16 votes. The document reads that on a proposal by Floor Leader Valeri Simeonov, the MPs of the Patriotic Front agreed to withdraw their support for the ruling coalition and the Government unless the President's veto is rejected by the National Assembly.

At the same time, the parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee, following its extraordinary sitting on Tuesday, proposes that the MPs do not re-adopt the vetoed revisions to the Election Code and hold new debates on them.

Last week President Rosen Plevneliev vetoed recently passed amendments to the Election Code which restrict the voting rights of Bulgarians abroad.
