Pamporovo Skiing Resort Reports Seven Per Cent Increase in Tourists in Past Winter Season

Smolyan, Southwestern Bulgaria, May 20 (BTA) - The Pamporovo skiing resort ended the season with a seven per cent increase in the number of serviced tourists, Deputy Tourism Minister Irena Georgieva told reporters. The proceeds from overnights in the resort totalled 13 million leva.

Georgieva said that overall, the winter season was successful, and that despite the unfavourable weather, an increase of 4.5 per cent compared to the winter season in 2015 is reported.

Georgieva attended the official signing ceremony of an agreement under which Pamporovo will host the Interski Congress in 2019. She said that the event will be a very good promotion of Bulgaria as a recognizable tourist destination.
