National Assembly Chair: Introduction of Legislation Impact Assessment Is Parliament's Priority

Sofia, May 30 (BTA) - The introduction of legislation impact assessment and public consultations as a compulsory element of the decision-making process is a priority of the 43rd National Assembly, Parliament Chair Tsetska Tsacheva said at the opening of an international symposium on "The Decision and Its Assessment", the National Assembly's press centre reported Monday.

Tsacheva recalled that at the end of April 2016, the National Assembly adopted changes in the Statutory Instruments Act effective as of early November, which introduce an impact assessment of legislation. These provisions will be applied to the legislative initiatives of both the Council of Ministers and MPs.

Participating in the forum were French Ambassador to Bulgaria Xavier Lapeyre de Cabanes, political expert Antoniy Gulubov, Prof. Gilles Rouet, Director of the Higher Institute of Management at the Universite de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, representatives of Bulgarian and European institutions and universities, and NGOs.
