Flow of Foreign Tourists to Bulgaria This Summer Expected to Increase by 10%

Bourgas, on the Black Sea, June 26 (BTA) - The flow of foreign tourists to Bulgaria this summer is expected to increase by 10 per cent, Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova told journalists in the Bozhoura area in Bourgas Region on Sunday. Angelkova added that a more accurate forecast can me made after a market analysis for June.

The airports in the seaside cities of Bourgas and Varna have recorded a 25 per cent rise in planned flights compared with last year, she said.

The increase in tourists from major source markets, such as Germany, will be between 5 and 35 per cent. Visitors from Russia are expected to increase by 20 per cent, and from Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary by 15 per cent.

This year's 100,000th Bulgarian visa to a Russian traveller was issued a few days ago, which also implies an increase, Angelkova went on to say. The Bulgarian Embassy in Moscow issues between 4,000 and 5,000 visas every day. Russian holiday-makers are mainly interested in the southern section of the Bulgarian coastline.

The minister said it is too early to predict the effect of the UK's Brexit referendum on the Bulgarian tourism industry. Currently, the UK market shows a 10 per cent rise in Bulgaria holidays.
