Bulgarian Socialist Party to Coalesce with Five Other Parties under Name  "BSP For Bulgaria" for March 26 Parliamentary Elections

Sofia, February 7 (BTA) - The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) signed an agreement to create a coalition with five other political formations which in the March 26 early parliamentary elections will run under the name "BSP For Bulgaria", BSP leader Kornelia Ninova told a news conference Tuesday. The five formations are the EcoGlasnost Political Club, the New Dawn Political Party, the Communist Party of Bulgaria, the Alexander Stamboliiski Agrarian Union, and the Thrace Political Club.

Ninova said that the new coalition "is not a mechanical sum total of parties wanting to utilize power and subsidies but a political union of like-minded people who share BSP's platform and have their genuine followers". Ninova said that the coalition was created for all types of elections in Bulgaria.

The socialist leader said that the hitherto BSP-led coalition "BSP Left Bulgaria" had 13 parties. In Ninova's words, the lower number of members of the new coalition does not pose a risk because they rely on integrity. She said that a mechanical sum total of parties does not always warrant a better performance.

Ninova said that bilateral agreements on cooperation with the coalition will be signed additionally with ten civic associations.

BSP For Bulgaria will register to run in the March 26 elections on Wednesday, Ninova said.
