New Opportunities for Cooperation between Bulgarian, German SMEs,  Start-up Companies

Sofia/Berlin, February 7 (BTA) - Caretaker Economy Minister Teodor Sedlarski, who was on a visit to Germany as a member of the Bulgarian delegation led by President Rumen Radev, met in Berlin with Uwe Beckmeyer, Parliamentary State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and chairman from the German side of the German-Bulgarian Cooperation Council, and with Helge Tolksdorf, head of the department of EU Enlargement, Southeast Europe and Turkey in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Sedlarski's Ministry said on its website.

On the agenda of the meetings were the priorities of the economic cooperation between the two countries with a focus on the further development of German investments in Bulgaria, in the automotive, machine-building and high-tech sectors. Special attention was paid to the cooperation in the development of the digitalization of production processes through synergy between research, production and high technologies.

The participants in the talks decided to start preparations for an international meeting in Sofia devoted to the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution and using the benefits opened by it.

Sedlarski also conferred with Florian Noell who chairs the governing board of the German Startups Association, and with representatives of the German Federal SME Association.

An agreement was reached to initiate the signing of a memorandum of cooperation with the German Startups Association. The Association and its members were invited to take part in the international technological conference WebIt Festival 2017 which will take place in April in Sofia's Tech Park.

The representatives of the German Federal SME Association stated their intention to open a representative office in Bulgaria, which Sedlarski welcomed.
