Foreign Minister Zaharieva Receives French Institute for International Affairs Chairman Thierry de Montbrial

Sofia, May 13 (BTA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva received on Friday the Chairman and founder of the French Institute for International, Affairs Thierry de Montbrial, who is on a visit to Bulgaria, Zaharieva's Ministry said in a press release.

The two discussed the situation in France and Europe after the election victory of President-elect Emmanuel Macron, the future before the European project and other geopolitical issues.

Ekaterina Zaharieva and Thierry de Montbrial concurred that Brexit raises fundamental questions to the EU related to the enlargement of the border-free Schengen Area, the Euro-zone and the future of the EU on the whole. The participants in the talks noted that a country such as Bulgaria can make a considerable contribution for the formation of the common foreign policy in respect of the Balkans.
