The mountains are currently cloudy and quiet, with light wind blowing in places, the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) of the Bulgarian Red Cross told BTA on Tuesday morning. Later in the day, rain and snow are expected to fall in the higher parts.

Conditions for hiking will be good until noon, the MRS said.

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology forecasts thick cloud with minor drizzle in isolated areas. Light snow at the highest elevations in Mt Rila and Mt Pirin. Wind light to moderate; north-northeasterly at lower elevations, south-southeasterly at mountaintops. Highs: 16 C at 1,200 metres above sea level, 8 C at 2,000 metres.
