In November 2024, monthly inflation was 0.6% compared to October, and annual inflation was 2.1% (November 2024 compared to November 2023), the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said.
In November 2024, the highest increase compared to the previous month was registered in Food and non-alcoholic beverages (+1.4%), Recreation and culture (+1.3%), Alcoholic beverages and tobacco (+0.7%) and Transport (+0.7%).
The largest decrease was registered in Clothing and footwear (-1.3%) and Furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house (-0.4%).
Monthly inflation, measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), was 0.3%, and annual inflation was 2%.
Monthly inflation in October was 1.1%, and the annual inflation was 1.8%. A NSI report indicated that the change in prices in September 2024 was 1.2% on an annual basis.
This is the eighteenth month in a row when annual inflation in Bulgaria is single-digit with a downward trend, according to a NSI report. In June 2023, inflation dropped down to single-digits (8.7%) for the first time since January 2022, when it was 9.1%.
The dynamics of consumer prices in 2024 were as follows: in August 2024 monthly inflation, measured by the consumer price index (CPI), was 0.1% compared to the previous month, and annual inflation for August 2024 compared to August 2023 was 2.1%.
A NSI report indicated that for July, monthly inflation rates were positive (0.8%), and annual inflation for July 2024 compared to July 2023 was 2.4%. In June 2024, monthly inflation was -0.2% compared to the previous month, 2.5% compared to the previous year. In May, these numbers were -0.2% and 2.3%, respectively, and in April, -0.3% and 2.4%.
In March 2024, inflation was 0.2% month-on-month, and 3%, year-on-year. In February, a 0.3% monthly inflation and a 3.3% annual inflation was registered. In January, a 0.5% monthly and 3.8% inflation was recorded.
