French Ambassador Joel Meyer on Monday visited the Prof. Dr. Assen Zlatarov Language School in Veliko Tarnovo to present it with a LabelFranceÉducation certificate. The quality label, which was received by the school's principal Smilena Todorova, is awarded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs for outstanding achievements in the field of teaching and learning the French language.
The procedure is implemented by the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) and thus the high school in Veliko Tarnovo became part of the prestigious international educational community, which unites more than 700 schools around the world.
“What brings us together today is our love for France and for the French language, the desire to improve the teaching of and in French, as well as the promotion of the French language and culture,” the school said in its address.
“This certificate is a sign of appreciation by the French State for the quality and the way French is taught in bilingual schools, as well as other subjects in this language, explained Joel Meyer. It is also a commitment to the teaching of French,” he added.
Ambassador Meyer expressed his satisfaction with Bulgaria's entry into the Schengen area and pointed out that he had no concerns about border security.
Earlier Ambassador Meyer conferred with Veliko Tarnovo Mayor Daniel Panov, the press centre of the municipal administration reported. They discussed the need and opportunities for expanding the partnership between Veliko Tarnovo and Bayonne, which are twin cities.
