Sozopol Municipality Mayor Tihomir Yanakiev and Kaynarca Municipality Mayor Murat Kefli held the first working meeting on the project Expanding Strandzha - Advancing the Capacity for Cross-border Cultural Heritage Interaction on Tuesday.

The project between Bulgarian and Turkish municipalities will be implemented within the framework of Priority 2 Integrated Development of the Cross-Border Region, with the aim of promoting social, economic and ecological local development, sustainable tourism and security in the region. The project is part of the cross-border cooperation programme INTERREG Bulgaria - Turkiye 2021-2027.

The meeting was attended by official representatives of the leading partner - the Turkish municipality of Vize, Calm City Vize Association, the municipality of Kaynarca and the municipality of Sozopol. The mayors of Vize, Kaynarca and Sozopol expressed their willingness to work together to implement planned activities, while the partners' teams discussed and allocated the responsibilities for the preparation of the project proposal and the necessary documents, Sozopol Municipality said.

The next working meeting will be held in early August, when the partnership agreement and other official documents will be signed.
