Over the past year, employees of the General Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection (GDFSPP) inspected 7,266 drinking and entertainment establishments. In 1,544 of them they found violations, Interior Minister Daniel Mitov said in a written response to a parliamentary question from Vazrazhdane MP Kliment Shopov.
Mitov also said that 64 protocols with the results of the inspections, 1,474 written orders and 138 administrative violation acts have been issued.
Four orders have been issued to stop the use of appliances and equipment with propane-butane in premises where the floor is lower than the level of the surrounding ground. In addition, one electrical outlet and one non-compliant chimney were suspended.
There are about 260 sites in Bulgaria that suggest crowding and are high risk, and they are checked at least once every year, GDFSPP Director Chief Commissioner Alexander Dzhartov told a media briefing in the middle of March. If a violation is found, appropriate measures are taken. Typically, the number of warrants issued is just over 70 per year. Between 10 and 20 administrative violation acts are also issued, Dzhartov further said. He added that the sites are subject to control during their design, construction and operation.
