An exhibition showcasing over 50 works by artist Naum Hadzhimladenov will be held in Sofia to commemorate the 130th anniversary of his birth. The exhibition opens on August 22 at the Artmark Gallery in Sofia and will be available for viewing until 20 September, the organisers said.

The exhibition features the work of Naum Hadzhimladenov, with paintings from 1914 to the late 1970s and early 1980s, the gallery team told BTA. It includes a variety of pieces from different stages of Hadzhimladenov's career.

Hadzhimladenov was born on July 15, 1894, in Samokov. He studied at the Academy of Arts in Sofia under Ivan Mrkvička and graduated in 1921, holding his first solo exhibition in Samokov that year. Between 1930 and 1948, he participated in numerous art exhibitions and made illustrations for the press.

In 1937, his painting "Market in Samokov" won a gold medal at the World Exhibition in Paris. He later received the Order of St. Alexander after an exhibition in Athens.

Hadzhimladenov is known for his illustrations on Bulgarian history, mythology, and portraits, with his works widely held in galleries and private collections.
