Vazrazhdane MPs Angel Georgiev and Veselin Veshev told journalists in Parliament on Thursday that they would waive their parliamentary immunities.

Earlier in the day, acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov asked Parliament to strip of immunity six MPs, among which were Georgiev and Veshev. Sarafov's request is in relation to the need to continue criminal proceedings from 2021 for hooliganism and causing minor injuries to police officers.

"For the third time we will give up our immunity, we are not worried at all," said Angel Georgiev. According to him, the case is entirely political and ordered. "The policemen beat us, abused us, he was hit with an electric shock, I was repeatedly pushed against the wall of the building of the Ministry of Regional Development," Georgiev said, pointing out that the judge in the case is "totally biased and a staunch supporter of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria."
