The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) once again failed to elect a President of the Supreme Administrative Court (SAC). On Thursday was the fourth, last, meeting of the Plenum of the SJC in the initiated repeated attempt to elect the head of the institution and once again no candidates were put forward.
The court is currently headed by the former Supreme Administrative Court President, Georgi Cholakov. He was appointed acting president, effective November 22 (when his term expired), until the election of a new administrative head.
Prior to the meeting, the chairman of the BOEC civil association, Georgi Georgiev, handed to some SJC members a report alleging that crimes had been committed by Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov. It became clear during the meeting that the evidence would be examined by the ethics committee of the Prosecutorial College and sent to the investigating special prosecutor Daniela Taleva. At the end of the meeting, the item was put up for discussion again at the suggestion of SJC member Atanaska Disheva. Her colleague Yordan Stoev quoted an interview of Daniela Taleva in which she explained that it was about employment relations of Sarafov's relatives.
Supreme Court of Cassation President Galina Zaharova suggested that the data from that report should be sent to the head of the criminal division of the court, as is the procedure. The proposal was accepted and voted on.
