Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov has asked Parliament to strip of immunity six MPs, the prosecution service said in a press release Thursday. The six are identified as R. Vassilev, V. Veshev, A. Georgiev, L. Borislavova, G. Daloolu and M. Rangelov.

The request to strip them of immunity came from the Sofia City Prosecution Office and the Sofia Regional Prosecution Office.

A check in the list of MPs shows that the six are Radostin Vassilev of MECh, Veselin Veshev of Vazrazhdane, Angel Georgiev of Vazrazhdane, Lena Borislavova of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria, Gyunai Daloolu of MRF - New Beginning, and Mario Rangelov of Democracy, Rights and Freedoms.

In the case of Radostin Vasilev, the request pertains to the continuation of a criminal case at the Sofia City Court (SCC) initiated in 2023 for coercion.

In the case of Veselin Veshev and Angel Georgiev, the requests involve proceedings from 2021 for hooliganism and inflicting minor bodily harm on law enforcement officers.

In the case of Lena Borislavova, the Sofia Regional Prosecutor’s Office claims that evidence supports charges of document fraud.

In the case of Lena Borislavova, evidence suggests that Daloolu used threats in Veliko Tarnovo to secure 20 preferential votes during elections for the 49th National Assembly.

In the case of Mario Rangelov, investigations revealed that he led a group offering money in exchange for votes during the 51st National Assembly elections. The group is accused of distributing sums, including 50 BGN per voter, in several towns.

The acting Prosecutor General has previously submitted a separate request to lift the immunity of MP Kiril Petkov (Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria), citing an ongoing investigation by the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office.

Under Article 70 of the Bulgarian Constitution, criminal proceedings against MPs with immunity require parliamentary approval or the written consent of the MP.
