A commemorative postage stamp on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and China was cancelled here on Wednesday by Dai Qingli, Ambassador of China to Bulgaria, and by Nevyana Miteva, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Dimitar Nedyalkov, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications. The ceremony at the headquarters of Bulgarian Post in Sofia was attended by the artist Todor Angeliev and other guests.
Nedyalkov pointed out that almost every year stamps are issued with a limited edition dedicated to the Chinese New Year. "I am convinced that this stamp will attract the interest of both collectors and wildlife lovers," he added.
Traditionally, the friendly relations between Bulgaria and China have a rich history and are built on the basis of true friendship and mutual respect, Nevyana Miteva noted.
In her words, over the past 75 years bilateral cooperation has been developing steadily and bilateral relations have reached the next stage with the building of a strategic partnership.
"Postage stamps are often referred to as the calling cards of a country. They are a kind of microencyclopedia on which countless topics are collected. In these 75 years, the two countries have travelled an extraordinary road together. Our friendship has stood the test of time and is growing stronger," said Ambassador Dai Qingli.
She also expressed her gratitude to the artist of the stamp, Todor Angeliev, explaining that the big panda is the country's most charming diplomatic envoy, and the evergreen bamboo symbolizes the relationship between the two countries - stable, resilient and successfully passed through the challenges of international change.
