The Vazrazhdane party has submitted a bill to amend the Water Act, which will push for more powers to be given to municipalities and municipal councils to opt out of water associations. This was announced by Vazrazhdane MP Angel Slavchev to journalists in Parliament on Thursday. According to him, some municipalities are forced or tricked into these water supply and sewerage associations.
A very important step will be the roundtable we will organize in the National Assembly on January 14, he noted. Slavchev pointed out that they have invited directors of water and sewerage companies, mayors of municipalities as well as experts in this field.
“The aim is to give a broader horizon and to think about a strategy on how to stop this waterlessness and, above all, to have someone who is responsible,” the MP said. “At the moment the system is set up in such a way that there is collective irresponsibility in terms of water exploitation in Bulgaria,” he added.
