Movement for Rights and Freedoms - New Beginning Floor Leader Delyan Peevski Thursday told reporters that the group's Gyunai Daloolu will give up his MP immunity immediately, because they are not hiding from investigations. Peevski was commenting on the news that Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov has asked Parliament to strip of immunity six MPs, including Daloolu and Mario Rangelov of Democracy for Rights and Freedoms (DRF).
Peevski said further that there should be independent Judiciary. "We are not hiding like some other agrarians, who are lit up light Christmas trees and demand some [ad hoc] committees," he commented. He was apparently referring to the DRF group, which was elected to Parliament as the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms coalition featuring members of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms party and the Agrarian People's Union. Peevski asked why the National Assembly Chair has not undertaken any actions and is stalling the investigation process, given the request for Rangelov's immunity to be stripped. The MRF - New Beginning Floor Leader called for a committee to shed light on everything, adding that his group will participate too. "How come the Chair is protecting the agrarians by not establishing such a committee? I call on her to do that," Peevski said.
Taking a question, he specified that he was referring to a committee over the MP immunity Dzheyhan Ibryamov of DRF. "The rules are clear: given that he has not given it up, she [the National Assembly Chair] should establish a committee," Peevksi argued. In his words, she has not done so because, according to his information, she is being visited in her office and getting threatened. Peevski has information about threats made by an agrarian MP from Burgas (on the Black Sea).
