Economic and Social Council (ESC) awarded the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) for merits in promoting the role of organized civil society in Bulgaria. A festive plenary session was held on Friday at the Council of Ministers on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the ESC.

Lawyer and ESC member Ognian Gerdzhikov presented the honorary award to BTA Deputy Director General Evgenia Drumeva.

Drumeva thanked for the award and congratulated the ESC on the occasion. "For those of us working in the national news agency, this award is a very important evaluation, an important recognition, because you - the ESC - are the common, united voice of civil society," she said upon receiving the award. "You show how through dialogue with different organizations with different positions you manage to reach agreement on the most important issues for the development of our country, which is a very good example," Drumeva noted.
