Thirteen Edition of Bulgarian Christmas CharityCampaign Fund-raises 2,397,920 Leva by Late January

Sofia, January 29 (BTA) - The amount raised so far in the thirteenth edition of the Bulgarian Christmas charity campaign totals 2,397,920 leva, making it the most successful campaign in the tenure of President Rosen Plevneliev, Plevneliev's Chief of Cabinet Deyana Kostadinova said Friday. The campaign is ongoing throughout the year and is held under the auspices of the President. The money raised in it is donated for medical treatment of children and related activities.

This year's campaign focuses on support to children needing intensive care.

In the period from December 1 to December 21, 2015, a total of 1,650,773 leva were donated to the campaign's bank account. A total of 747,147 leva were donated as text messages. The individual donors total 3,074, and the corporate ones,435. Eighty-nine schools too participated in the campaign.

As at the moment, eighteen hospitals have applied to receive funding from the campaign. Parents of sick children have submitted 203 applications for funding. Kostadinova said that all applications will be considered, irrespective of whether or not they fall within the focus of the campaign.
