site.btaExhibition "Faces of Sofia at Night" Opens Thursday

Seven artists will show concert photographs in a new exhibition, called Faces of Sofia at Night can be seen from Thursday, January 16, until January 30 in the Central Sofia Market Hall, said organizer Ivanichka Kyuchukova Thursday.

"The photographs were taken only in 2024. They were taken only in Sofia because of the theme of the exhibition, because we want to show a different face of the city", she said. "That face that meets us with people rushing, not for work, but to get food for their soul. The faces of these people are different, they become an audience and meet the artists and the city lives a different, a little more secret life that not everyone sees," Kyuchukova added. 

The exhibition includes photographs by seven artists - Ivanichka Kyuchukova, Rumina Georgieva, Michaela Yovcheva, Marin Karastoyanov, Georgi Achov, Asen Georgiev and Kalina Serafimova.  There are about 30 photographs, both colour and black and white. There are also some analogue shots taken on tape by Georgi Achov. 

"We all love seeing concert photos of very famous stars", Kyuchukova said. "That is not the focus here at all. We have shots of world stars as well - we have up to world stars like Thom York, Judas Priest, Editors, Kovacs, but we have put the emphasis on Bulgarian artists because no one chooses to put them in shows. On the other hand, because of the theme of the exhibition, we have shied away from the biggest concerts where it is easy to shoot. Many of the shots were taken in small clubs, in close quarters, without lighting, in real conditions where people and artists are having fun and becoming one," she added.
