Outgoing Education Minister to Become Prime Minister's Advisor

Bourgas, on the Black Sea, January 30 (BTA) - Todor Tanev will resign as Minister of Education and Science to become an advisor to Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. This transpired from remarks which the Prime Minister made to journalists on Saturday.

Borissov had asked Tanev to resign amid systemic problems plaguing his ministry and education in general. Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva was nominated to replace him as Minister of Education and Science.

Borissov said on Saturday: "Minister Tanev is a very learned man, a professional. I met him earlier today and we agreed that he will stay in the cabinet as my advisor. His resignation will perhaps be submitted on Monday."

Borissov added that Tanev and his team failed to communicate to the public what they were really planning to do. The Prime Minister said he was informed about Kuneva's nomination by the Reformist Bloc as Minister of Education and Science.

Borissov, accompanied by Transport Minister Ivaylo Moskovski and National Railway Infrastructure Company Director-General Milcho Lambrev, was in Bourgas to inspect the renovated railway station in the seaside city.
