E-government Agency: E-services Were 64% of Total in 2015

Sofia, October 11 (BTA) - n 2015, e-services accounted for 64 per cent of the total, compared to an average of 80 per cent in the EU, the E-government Agency's new Chairman Rosen Zhelyazkov said. More than 40 e-services became available in the last two years.

The lack of electronic identification is an obstacle to the provision of more e-services in Bulgaria, said Zhelyazkov, who presented his concept on Tuesday.

With information systems scattered in more than 2,200 locations, maintenance costs are extremely high. Not all data centres have uninterruptible power supply and air conditioning, he said.

In addition, the regulatory framework is huge, it includes many outdated concepts and provisions. For instance, companies file their annual reports in three different ways. There are 2,312 services and more than 900 regulatory requirements, Zhelyazkov noted.

The Agency's priorities are users, default e-services, e-participation and e-voting.
Information security and cyber security are also a high priority. For every check of personal data the system will text or email the respective person.

Some 480 e-services will be designed with EU funds, said Zhelyazkov.
