Boyko Borissov backed down from the bid for being Prime Minister so that a regular government could eventually be formed, said Daniel Mitov from GERB-UDF, proposed candidate for Minister of Interior, on Thursday. He added that Borissov's decision is a huge compromise for GERB.

Asked whether the coalition with BSP - United Left was not also a compromise, he replied that compromises in such negotiations are made when necessary and when the situation and circumstances require it. "There are too big challenges for the society and the state and there are goals that have to be achieved quickly, so we have no right to pull ourselves like little children, as some of the parties were for a long time during negotiations in previous parliaments, and even now", Mitov said.

"The system needs calmness, it needs a sober assessment of where the problems are and what can be improved in the functioning of the Interior Ministry system so that the Bulgarian citizens feel even more secure and protected", Mitov added.

Asked why he was proposed for Minister of the Interior, instead of Foreign Minister, Mitov pointed out that there is a lot of work to be done with international partners on the services. He added that if the vote was successful, he would not head the Interior Ministry bearing a list of people or googling who were criminals and who were not.
