Sofia, January 13 (BTA) - The National Assembly Legal Affairs Committee Friday voted, 7-9 with 2 abstentions, to vote down the agenda for its extraordinary meeting at which it was supposed to discuss on first reading two bills amending the Election Code in line with the results of the November 6, 2016 national referendum: one tabled by GERB and another by independent MP Georgi Kadiev on behalf of National Ombudsman Maya Manolova.

After the vote, Committee Chairman Danail Kirilov declared the meeting closed.

In a similar way, on Tuesday the Legal Affairs Committee voted, 6-11, to defeat a motion to consider a draft resolution tabled by GERB in connection with the national referendum. The item was dropped from the Committee's agenda on a motion by opposition MPs. LI/BR
