Authorities Warn of Black Ice Risk on Saturday, Road Closures

Sofia, January 14 (BTA) - Authorities warned about a risk of black ice across the country after mixed showers of rain and snow on Saturday. The Road Infrastructure Agency said that sections of the national road network and entire regions will be closed to traffic so that roads can be treated because of the expected freezing rain and subsequent road icing.

The regions of Pleven, Lovech, Sofia, Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Veliko Turnovo, Gabrovo, Rousse, Varna, Shoumen, Razgrad, Targovishte, Dobrich, Silistra, Bourgas and Stara Zagora are experiencing rainfall which is expected to turn into freezing rain later.

The Road Infrastructure Agency calls on motorists to drive carefully with consideration for the road conditions and to avoid entering closed roads.
